Outbreak 2012 is coming back in a short period of time. A lot of the posts will be dated back to December 21st 2012 and will include fictional news reports from around the world and hopefully some new individual accounts of what is going on in their location. Trying to do this project solo right now since previously a few people that stated interest backed out or are no longer available.  With that being said once things get a bit more stable on the home front I will put out the word once more to recruit others into the fold and get the story moving further. Either way sit tight and remember the end times are coming.

Revamping things

Outbreak 2012 is going through a reboot come December 2012. This is due to some changes going on IRL. Also this will give us some time to work on material to post onto the blog site fleshing things out a bit more.

Update April 20th

Posted: May 22, 2012 in Uncategorized

I went over to the Peterson farm to take care of the animals and try to figure what would be the best way to proceed with crop planting. While making my way over I saw a gaggle of shamblers along the road. I had let the cows out into the field and my first thoughts were that the zeds would attack them but strangely enough they didn’t. The cows were obviously freaked out by them but despite their protests the shamblers simply looked at them with an odd curiosity and moved on. After that bit of excitement I was able to check on the animals and get some crops planted. Right now I have some corn planted for animal feed and some other veggies for myself. With the advent of larger groups moving through the area I need to be extremely careful. Still have been performing radio checks over the CB and scanning the ham radio bans for any traffic but so far I have been getting nothing but dead air. Tomorrow I do have another foot patrol to do and going to hike about 2 hours out to scout around.  Hopefully I can find a long gun to supplement the pistol I have. You’d think with all the hunting around here before the Outbreak I’d find a shotgun or bolt action rifle.  Well I am going to turn in for the night.

Cheers,

Wolfe

Had some issues recently

Posted: May 10, 2012 in Uncategorized

The outbreak will be coming back shortly. Had some IRL issues come up that needed attention but will continue with the story starting next week.

Okay, I went out to do some scouting the on the 16th and made my way out to highway 11 and came across an OPP cruiser that was flipped over. I carefully walked around the vehicle and saw what was left of an officer that either scavengers or infected got a hold of. It looks like the officer’s head was crushed when the cruiser flipped explaining why he wasn’t a shambler. Either way I searched his body and found a HK .40 cal pistol with 4 magazines. That only gives me roughly 52 rounds of ammo which I need to conserve. Sadly there was no long gun to be found in the cruiser so I am still SOL when it comes to long range stopping power. I spent the better part of a day walking along highway 11 looking for more supplies and trying to raise people on the handheld CB I have been using. So far all I get is dead air but still the effort is well worth it I feel. So to whoever may still be out there reading these entries and viewing my videos I promise I will do my best to bring you the current situation here in Simcoe County Ontario.

Current Status

Been working on the Peterson farm trying to keep the livestock going as well as trying to plan out the crops for this year. Right now I have plenty of corn, and pumpkin seeds it seems. On top of that I have the cows, pigs and horses to take care of. Doing all this solo has been eating up a lot of time that I need to use for scouting. I’ve been using my handheld scanner listening to any radio traffic but things have gotten awfully quiet. Even Howie the guy I was doing 4 hour radio checks with has gone black. I haven’t seen any ragers since the Peterson farm incident but I have seen plenty of shamblers. When they are in bigger packs I try to duck out of their line of sight. So far this has worked and the infected don’t seem to have any super sense of smell or hearing that gives me away. In fact I have gotten good at sneaking up on lone shamblers and dispatching them with a blow to the back of the skull before they can react. I am still hesitant to go after any more than a single shambler at a time. Rather not risk not taking it out in one shot and having to fight one on two legs and worry about the one I knocked down.

Starting this week I am going to begin scouting once more. More than likely I will work two days on the farm and scout the following day. This allows me to take care of the farm but still hunt for supplies and tools from the outlying farms. I will make a detailed report on the farms as I explore them. I might have to spend time moving livestock to the Peterson place as time goes on. Either way everyone take care.

Been busy learning the joys of farming so I have been limited in my time scouting. With the warm snap that happened the other week I was busy checking over the fields where I am going to let the cows out to. So far I have only come across a few more shamblers that I took down and disposed of the body. I am hoping to check on the neighboring farms with most of the snow being gone. Talked to some of the other guys and they will have those transcripts of the battle up this week. Things are still fluid in a lot of places and communications are going up and down. Either way stay safe and stay tuned.

Here is update 8 dedicated to Mike Walker.

Okay everyone I wanted to post some shots of what I use for when I go scouting. Right now I am planning on checking in on a few more of the neighboring farms to check for supplies and survivors. Here is a breakdown and visual guide to what I am using.

Front shot of the scout pack

Rear shot of pack

Complete layout of gear

Miscellaneous gear laid out on pack

Spare Clothes

Tools and weapons laid out

Basically here is the low down for what I use in the scout pack.

Gear

Camelbak 100oz bladder      GPS      US military style compass

Flask of water      Surefire G2           Surefire Executive

Rubbing Alcohol(For first aid)            Camera(for taking pics for later reference) Gerber tool

Bootlaces which double as tie downs     2x Bandanas

First aid kit

Notebook and pencils for jotting down notes and taking inventory

Spare set of clothes

Jeans, socks underwear, tshirt and wooly pully sweater(due to cold weather). A

Also I have poncho liner to use as a blanket if I do get stuck somewhere

Tools and weapons

Since I just moved here from the United States I was not able to bring up any of my firearms before this all went down so I don’t have any up here.

Baseball bat for self defense, granted it won’t kill an infected on the first shot it can knock them down at least.

Crowbar for getting into places

Kbar tanto knife for self defense as well. Lashed to a stick it makes a decent spear.

Folding knife for cutting things

Hatchet for chopping doors open.

Overview

This set up is really for short excursions on foot. As the weather gets better here and easier to travel my goal is to slowly do circles starting with 2 miles out then 4 then 6 etc etc. Once I get to the point where it takes longer getting out than I have available daylight getting back then I will switch to using my truck or if I am lucky and find a 4 wheeler. Also for food since this is for short trips I generally bring a few protein bars or jerky with me. Even with the gear that is stashed inside I still have room to load up any supplies I might find in my travels.

I hope this article helps
